Booking Conditions - Important - Please read

To ensure the smooth operation of the school and it being the only way to confirm your place, a Booking Deposit must be paid in advance and the balance must be paid in full at start of your course.

Please choose which course you require fill out the booking enquiry form or ring us at 086/2232955, once you've contacted us we can then open a student file in your name ready for the start of your training.

Due to the low Instructor/Student ratio and the fluctuations of our weather there are only a limited number of places each year. You may be informed of the final starting date of a course at short notice and at times that date may be changed due to weather conditions.

Midland Paragliding and the student will mutually agree a date, time and meeting point for training by email, telephone, text, Skype or other method as may be available at the time. Once booked, Midland Paragliding may change, postpone or cancel the arranged date, time or location of training for any reason and we will make reasonable endeavours to notify the student.

All training must be paid for in full on the first day and payments are not refundable. Students must arrive at the appointed place at the notified time. Failure to do so may result in an additional fee or cancellation of that day’s training.

A student must give 48 hours notice to Midland Paragliding should he/she wish to change a booking in any way. Failure to do so may result in the loss of that day’s training and no refund shall be made.

For conversions, endorsements or paramotor training, students must produce documentary evidence of appropriate, relevant training, flying experience (log book) and insurance.

If you are unfortunate with the weather during your booked dates, we will time credit you the lost session for up to 1 year to be taken at your convenience - just keep rebooking the next available date until you get a good weather slot. As with all weather dependent sports, while under training patience can be required at times but the rewards are vast in comparison. If you are not a patient person, we would politely suggest weather dependent sports are probably not for you.

When you are booked on a course, during any part of your training and you decide not to attend, you must give us reasonable notice that you are unable to attend or risk forfeiting that day.

Gift vouchers are not refundable and do not carry any cancellation period but are valid for a whole year from the date on the ticket.

We will try to supply a full session of instruction each and every time you attend your course. If you leave the flying site before the class session ends, you could risk losing that portion of instruction.

Courses must be completed in same year as booked as other people are waiting to start training. Extra days training may be added at the students request if they have not attained the qualification after completing the course at a extra cost of €150 per day.

Training may consist of flying, classroom / outdoor lectures and briefings (ground school) and examinations and may take place over full or part days dependent upon many different factors including but not limited to weather conditions, student fitness, ability and confidence, the availability of suitable sites.

Midland Paragliding reserves the right to charge an additional fee at its discretion should a student fail an exam or fail to complete training to an acceptable level in a reasonable number of days. In such a case, the CFI will advise the student of this situation as soon as possible.

Midland Paragliding further reserves the right to advise a student if, in the opinion of the CFI, he/she is unsuitable to continue training for any reason. In such circumstances the CFI may decline to train the student and no refund will be due.

Paragliding can be a dangerous sport. Midland Paragliding will take all reasonable efforts to reduce the risk of an accident. Accidents can happen even within the training environment.

Midland Paragliding will use its own equipment or the student’s own equipment (if suitable and safe) to train a student as applicable. Where a student wishes to use their own equipment Midland Paragliding reserves the right to refuse to train a student should it determine that equipment is unfit for purpose.

It is important and sensible to note that you should purchase your first glider only after you attain EP rating. To progress to CP rating the student can fly only while under the supervision of his instructor, who will sign off all his flights for the next stage. This system of instruction is not about clocking up hours but rather about gaining as much experience as possible in different conditions at different suitable sites while under the supervision of the school over an extended period of time.

It is important to have realistic expectations when learning to paraglide, completing the full course will probably take you at least a few months. And it can sometimes be very frustrating as this sport is at the mercy of changing weather conditions, but if you persevere the sport can and will change your life.

The training syllabus and rating system adopted by our school is internationally acknowledged as one of the best and is also most suited to our needs and flying conditions. As a student you are asked to read your training log book and make yourself familiar with the tasks that have to be fulfilled to advance through this system of training.

Please do not present for training with a hangover as you will be refused and you will also lose that days training as you will have taken another students place without been in a fit condition to avail of instruction. If you are taking prescribed medication you should contact your doctor before starting training.
Warning! You are advised not to paraglide while taking prescribed medication as your judgement & vision can be seriously affected which could lead to fatal or serious injury to yourself or others!

Important! Our goal is to introduce our students to the wonderful sport of paragliding, by giving them the best structured courses available while maintaining the highest safety standards. If a student breaks any of the conditions above, we as a school "Midland Paragliding "may consider that student to have discharged themselves from any further instruction from within our school. All students must only operate school equipment while under supervised instruction and only when requested too by their instructor. All students must fully cooperate at all times with their instructor and should display a safe & considerate attitude to others at all times. Midland Paragliding will not be liable and will not take any responsibility whatsoever for the actions and or consequences arising from any pilot who behaves in an inappropriate manner and who's actions leads to others been put in fear, endangerment, or receiving serious or fatal injury. Please note all students are assessed on their attitude and conduct towards other students as this is also a very important factor in becoming a safe pilot, and patience is a must!
