The success story of the Arcus range continues with
the Arcus 6. Swing has retained the successful concept
behind the original Arcus and transferred it to a
completely new design. Like its predecessors, the Arcus
6 (unaccelerated) complies with the requirements for the
LTF 1 class (German airworthiness standards). It is
ultimately up to the pilot to decide whether to make the
glider an LTF 1-2. Nevertheless pilots need not go
without the handling and high trim speed of the LTF 1-2
in unaccelerated flight.
Arcus 6 – a class of its
own
The Arcus glider is and will continue to be the perfect
all-round glider for more than 60% of paraglider pilots.
It receives more praise than probably any other
paraglider. There is good reason why more than 10,000
Arcus gliders have been sold around the world. So our
design team led by Michael Hartmann was even more
excited about the challenge of improving on the
predecessor with the Arcus 6. A total of 14 prototypes
were fine-tuned until the flight behaviour satisfied the
team’s demands and any remaining imperfections were
ironed out.
Arcus 6 – relax!
– unaccelerated, it’s still an LTF 1 glider
The vast majority of pilots fly unaccelerated most of
the time. This is exactly what makes the Arcus 6 such a
suitable glider for beginners, despite its high
performance and agility. The new Arcus (unaccelerated)
is and will remain an LTF 1 glider. Its stability and
well-balanced nature leave no doubt as to its
suitability for learners to use for their first
high-altitude flights. But also social pilots and
occasional pilots, as well as pilots taking a step back
from higher LTF classes, will have great fun with this
perfectly balanced all-round glider in thermal and
cross-country flying.
Arcus 6 – a unique glider
with an attractive design
Not only is the design new, but Swing has also broken
new ground in the conversion of 3D computer models into
2D templates for production. Less sail tension in
combination with the round air-entrances made it
possible to design a canopy which is extremely smooth.
Its harmonious profile, matched with an appealing and
snappy design, emphasise the unique nature of the Arcus
6
Arcus 6 vs. Arcus 5 –
how do they differ in flight?
a) better glide
b) more direct handling, greater agility
c) higher trim speed
d) greater control pressure towards the end
of the control travel (stall point very easy to
recognise)
e) greater canopy stability
f) greater speed range on flare
Arcus 6 vs. Arcus 5 –
how do they differ in design?
g) round air entrances
h) higher aspect ratio
i) a more swept-back plan form
j) new profile
k) no ”E” lines
Like all the other gliders in the Arcus range which
have gone before it, the Arcus 6 far surpasses all
current LTF 1 gliders when it comes to glider
performance and speed. Neat workmanship, high safety
reserves and the use of the highest-quality materials
are of course standard with the Arcus 6.

In the last two or three years, many experienced pilots have
changed from DHV 2 or even 2-3 gliders to the current
high-performance DHV 1-2 gliders, such as the Mistral 4. Swing now
presents the new ASTRAL 5, designed to open up new horizons in the
sport class (up to DHV 2) and to recapture the former performance
edge this class once had.
With the Astral 5, Swing has again succeeded in positioning itself
right at the top of the coveted sport class.
The Astral 5 – combining top performance
with comfort
As soon as you try the Astral 5, you will have the feeling that
you have been flying it for years. Features which you will
immediately notice are comfort and confidence, despite an impressive
but not artificially exaggerated aspect ratio of 5.7. No stress or
soft “big ears” – instead direct and very well-balanced handling
make efficient ascent a breeze. It uses the same profile as the
Stratus 7, our brand new competition glider. You will be impressed
by the above-average ascent rates and good-natured flight
characteristics and handling of both the ASTRAL 5 and the Stratus
7.
Astral 5 – it’s YOUR glider!
Enthusiastic cross-country fans will get their money’s worth
right from the start with the classy high-performance DHV 2 glider.
The cross-country flights you have dreamed about will become a
reality with the Astral 5. Relaxed flying was one of the most
important objectives for our development team and they certainly
have achieved this. The ASTRAL 5 will ensure pleasurable flying
without stress even if you are in the air for several hours…this is
yet another reason to choose the ASTRAL 5. The high expectations our
development team had for the glider and its sporty and elegant
design allow just one conclusion for this glider: simply fantastic!
We can of course also have your Astral 5 made in the colours of your
choice (3-4 weeks delivery time). Follow this link for more

Astral 5 – it’s got what it
takes
Swing quality, much development work and great attention to detail.
Our proven and cost-intensive material mix has been used not only in
the successful Mistral 4, but also in the ASTRAL 5. This ensures a
high life expectancy and contour accuracy, even after many, many
kilometers and hours of flying.
Get a fresh perspective and treat yourself to a test flight on
Swing’s fascinating new development in the DHV 2 class. We are sure
that you will fly it more than once.

With an
aspect ratio of 6.4 and a very impressive
glide angle which, according to our own
tests, comes amazingly close to the Stratus
7's glide ratio of 9.6, (more accurate
figures are underway), this sporty
intermediate glider will win you over with
its fantastic handling and high-performance
look.
The Astral 6 symbolises the start of a new
era of product development for Swing, and
will set the direction for all future
development. Among other things, the High
Arc Concept (HAC) used for competition
gliders will be used in our intermediate
models from now on.
Any cross-country pilot for whom top
performance, a high feel-good factor and
precise, smooth handling are important, is
bound to be excited about this classy
category 2 glider.
Astral 6 - Philosophy
The market has
indicated to us that category 2 pilots are
becoming more performance-oriented than ever
before. This is related to the fact that
there are many pilots who are taking a step
back from the competition scene and also
many pilots taking part in the various
online-contests throughout the world.
This is reason enough for us to introduce
aspects of competition technology (HAC) into
the new category 2 model. The test flights
with the first protos quickly gave an
indication of its potential in terms of
aspect ratio and performance, and greatly
expanded the options in its development.
After many comparative flights and hours of
thermaling, we are pleased to be able to
present an unmatched and well-engineered
Astral 6, which will also surprise pilots
with its many clever details.
What's
