IQ COMPEO

Functions Overview

  • BRAND NEW INSTRUMENT

  • We are glad to inform you about our new high-end instrument IQ-COMPEO+ ( HG and PG version ). It is based on the former COMPEO, it is a complete new design and provides the latest controller  and GPS technology. Optional features are a SD - slot for memory cards and Bluetooth technology for easy handling of any data transfer.

The new high precision speed pressure sensor  now allows a TAS speed indication up form 20 km/h!

The case is designed comparable to the famous IQ-ONE series and is as rugged and very comfortable to use.

    Here some highlights:

    • Exclusive, elegant, slim and functional design

    · High-resolution graphic display ¼ VGA

    · 2 Precision pressure sensors for ultimate precision in height and speed  and  a sensative and adjustable vario

    · All Menus are easily accessed by 4 central keys, individual Settings are prompted via 2 "softkey". Important functions are directly accessible.

    · Easy entry of  target co-ordinates/ COMPETITION-routes via PC or manually.

    · The IQ COMPEO+ provides a perfect simulation mode which allows for testing  and simalation  of nearly all functions.

    · Flight memory for up to 290 hours. In each flight the following are recorded:
GPS-position with height, barometric height, TAS, GPS-speed over ground, time.

    · USB interface to the PC.

NEW DETAILS WILL FOLLOW SOON FOR THE MOMENT THESE ARE THE OLDER INSTRUMENT DETAILS BELOW

  • Total integrated flight instrument with 16 channel GPS receiver and integrated patch antenna.
  • Robust ABS housing, aerodynamic with soft edges.
  • Integrated NiMh batteries, providing more than 25 hours of usage with GPS receiver clocked with a 1 second update rate. Longer update rates will increase usable operating time. Batteries are quick charge types without memory effect. They can be charged from a wide range AC power outlet or directly from the car or directly by different solar panels.
  • The large display (60mm x 80mm) is a high contrast LCD graphic type with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixel = 1/4 VGA
  • The display offers different analogue and digital readings. The pilot may adjust the displayed data to his own preferences. For each of the 6 user fields, the pilot may choose of a list of different items. These include
  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction
  • Time
  • Flight time
  • Speed over ground
  • Diff. speed between TAS and groundspeed
  • Height over destination
  • Distance to destination
  • Bearing
  • Track
  • Direction to best climbing
  • Temperature
  • A2 (QFE)
  • A3 (cumulated altitude)
  • HPa/inHg
  • L/D Ratio (through air, over ground, to waypoint)
  • Voltage (all time controlled, voltage and remaining battery time is displaid)

  • The keypad helps navigating through an easy menu structure. 2 soft keys are event driven. During flight, the most important settings are performed directly, without navigating through different menus.
  • The audio is adjustable over a wide range. If desired, volume can be automatically controlled by speed.
  • Up to 200 waypoints can be defined.
  • Up to 20 routes, each with 30 waypoints can be stored.
  • Automatic pilot notification, when an FAI cylinder is passed.
  • Automatic navigation to the last best lift
  • Automatic logger start and stop
  • Up to 96 hours of FAI/IGC logger memory
  • 2 different speed sensors may be connected: pressure based speed sensor (pitot tube integrated) to satisfy the requirements of fast hanggliders or speed probe (wheel-type) for paragliders.
  • TEC
  • All user settings can be performed using the keypad.
  • Increased McCready and glide path features
  • Last but not least, the IQ COMPEO offers a perfect "simulation mode” where all features can be tested and simulated. This function allows to become very easy familare with the instrument.
  • The integrated flight calculator allows a guided flight to all memorised waypoints, showing the expected height over target.
  • Dimensions/weight 180 x 96 x 45 mm, 0,425 kg (without fixture)

Technology

Skizze
  1. GPS-Status
Shows the number of satellites in view (e.g. 8) and the update rate in seconds (e.g. 1s)
  2. Batterie-Status
Shows the remaining capacity analog and digital in % and the estimated available operating time in hours.
  3. Analog Vario
Shows analog vario in 10 cm/s resolution. If the range is exhausted, the scaling and reading is doubled.
  4. Digital Vario
Shows vario in large letters. Different averaging modes and nettomode is selectable. Resolution is 10cm/s. There is no limit in displaying maximum values.
  5. Day typical rising
Shows the 10 min average vario value. Used for McCready trip optimised flying.
  6. McCready
Shows the McCready arrow. If the arrow is positioned (by modifying the speed) on 0, best gliding is selected. For trip optimised flying, put the McCready arrow overlaid to the day typical arrow. Then fastest travelling is selected.
  7. User Selectable Fields
The pilot may select these 6 fields independent from each other. A list of over 15 items is provided.
  8. Soft Keys
Soft keys provide event driven user inputs. As an example, during flight, within a route you can select the previous or the next waypoint of the route.
  9. Wind Direction
Inside the compass the calculated wind direction is shown graphically with a wind sock indicator.
  10. Track
The moving compass circle shows the actual heading (track) graphically.
  11. Analog speed
User selectable scaling is provided for analog speed indication. If the range is exhausted, the scaling and the display indication is doubled.
  12. Altitude
Altitude is shown in large numbers. Resolution is 1 m up to 10,000 m.
  13. Speed for best glide
This arrow indicates the speed for best McCready gliding.
  14. Bearing
Shows graphically the direction to steer towards the active waypoint.
  15. Direction of best gliding
Shows inside the compass circle the direction of the maximum rising during the last minutes (user selectable).
  16. Waypoint name
The actual waypoint name is displayed. A waypoint name may consist up to 15 characters.
  17. Info Line
This line displays event driven error or info messages to the pilot. Examples may be: FAI-SECTOR passed, LOW BATTERY, NO GPS, etc.
  18. Digital Speed
Actual speed is displayed in large letters in 1 km/h resolution.
